Biorefining within food loss and waste frameworks: A review

چکیده
Biorefining food loss and waste (FLW) to produce bioenergy or bioproducts is an attractive management option with potential economic environmental benefits. This paper aims identify how biorefining processes have been incorporated into frameworks, well their placement ranking within these frameworks supported by evidence from the literature. Seven FLW (hierarchies) sourced government research literature were critically assessed. The of options hierarchy generally based on outcomes consequently, it was expected that hierarchies provide consistent advice. It found while frequently recycling recovery levels hierarchies, comparative positions subject significant variability. A systematic review for revealed impacts energy-driven assessed compared. However, assessments non-energy products (product-driven biorefining) underrepresented in this Nevertheless, horticultural feedstocks, product-driven potentially offers outcomes. Product-driven likely be particularly relevant FLW, due abundance useful valuable compounds materials.

Review: Food loss and waste in Sub-Saharan Africa
The research, development practitioner, and donor community has begun to focus on food loss and waste - often referred to as post-harvest losses (PHL) - in Sub-Saharan Africa. This article reviews the current state of the literature on PHL mitigation. First, we identify explicitly the varied objectives underlying efforts to reduce PHL levels. Second, we summarize the estimated magnitudes of los...

Food waste and food processing wastes which are abundant in nature and rich in carbon content can be attractive renewable substrates for sustainable biohydrogen production due to wide economic prospects in industries. Many studies utilizing common food wastes such as dining hall or restaurant waste and wastes generated from food processing industries have shown good percentages of hydrogen in g...

There is a dearth of information on the percentage of waste during preparation of food by the average woman. Such figures would be of value in dietary surveys, since some food tables give analyses for raw foods only 'as purchased', so that edible portions on dietary records must often be converted to 'as purchased' amounts before conversion to calories and nutrients. During two long-term dietar...
